Prevent Heat-Related illness
Exposure to very high temperatures may result in health conditions that include heat stroke and heat cramps if prevention strategies aren’t implemented.
Signs and symptoms of Heat-Related illnesses include
# Excessive thirst
# Dryness of the skin
# High body temperature
# Muscle cramps
# Dizziness
# Headaches
# Tiredness and weakness
# Nausea and or vomiting
Severe health impacts may include
#Heat cramps #Heat stroke #Mental health #Kidney diseases #Respiratory disease #Dehydration
Prevent Heat-Related Illness!!
Kindly encourage colleagues, family members, friends, and everyone to do the following
# Avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight
# Wear appropriate lightweight, light coloured -loose-fitting clothing
# Stay in well ventilated and cool environments
# Keep hydrated, Frequently drink plenty of oral fluids especially water(alcohol excluded)
# Take a bath frequently as necessary where possible especially in the morning, before a trip or sleep.
# Put on a sun hat and glasses
# Where possible, keep a wet towel to cool yourself
# Keep a closer check on children, the elderly and the physically ill so that they stay indoors or under a shed
# Avoid very hot or heavy meals especially during the day
# If driving
-make use of your air conditioner or keep windows safely open
-Don’t sleep or leave children sleeping in your car in direct sunlight or hot weather.
-For safety reasons-don’t leave electronic gadgets exposed to direct sunlight e.g cellphones.
-When parked in Leave your car with windows slightly open and open doors to ventilate before getting into your vehicle
